Letter to North Lincolnshire Council - Opposing Lincolnshire Lakes Additional Housing

Dear (Name of Planning Officer),

I am writing on behalf of North Lincolnshire Green Party to strongly object to the additional housing as outlined in the amended plans for planning application PA/2015/0396.

The amended plans state that the applicants have applied for planning permission for 100 additional dwellings to be built on the land adjacent to the Great Lake.

North Lincolnshire Green Party has concerns over the increased density of housing within this development. In our opinion the original plans for 2,400 dwellings is already too many in one area, the additional 100 dwellings will only increase the density of housing within the development. In order for the development to remain attractive, ensure that living conditions are the best they can be and that homeowners have privacy, the houses need to be well spaced out. The additional housing will not allow for this.

We also have concerns about the increase in traffic from the additional housing. Due to the large scale of the development, we already have great concerns for the heavy influx of new traffic the development will bring to Scunthorpe and the surrounding area (construction vehicles during building work and vehicles associated with the new homes when the development is finished). These additional 100 homes will add a minimum of 200 cars to the already over used roads. This will result in an even larger increase in noise and pollution, in particular poor air quality. In the villages neighboring the development, which are currently very quiet rural areas, the residents will notice a very significant rise in noise levels. The increase in traffic could also pose a huge traffic congestion issue on our already heavily used main roads.

We are quite disappointed to see this new amended application. It appears as though the applicants have had these plans in mind for quite some time, yet decided to leave them out of the original plans in order for the application to be more appealing. Now the original application has been approved, these amended plans have been submitted at this late stage with the view that they will be granted straight away.

North Lincolnshire Green Party urge you to consider the points mentioned above and the effects the additional housing will have to North Lincolnshire before you make your final decision on the amended plans.

Kind Regards,
