Another repressive bit of legislation from this anti-democratic government we will all have to cope with in May 2023 is producing photo ID in order to be able to vote.The obvious ones are a passport or driving licence which will exclude many people, so from January people will be able to apply to North Lincolnshire Council (NLC) for a “Voter Authority Certificate”. I am told by the NLC Elections Manager that the process for getting one of these will require a photograph and be very much like applying for a passport – so quite onerous. There is a list of what will count as valid photo ID on the GOV.UK website here. More on this in the next newsletter. In the meantime spread the word so people are not disenfranchised.
