The Green Party doesn’t think we should be cutting benefits at all. There is plenty of money around. It’s just in the wrong hands. Benefit cuts will drive people into destitution.
The Tory government has announced yet more savage cuts in benefits for people in and out of work and on low and modest incomes. Rather than cutting support for people who need it the Green Party would introduce a living wage, increase taxation of the rich and large companies, clamp down on tax avoidance and invest in a programme of green jobs – through a Green New Deal.
The Green Party's 'Green New Deal' would create one million 'green' jobs, insulate thousands of homes and help combat climate change. The attack on welfare benefits is an attack on the welfare of us all.
